Crop rotation

One of the main points of good production practices is crop rotation. In addition to optimizing direct planting between cotton, soybean and corn crops, taking advantage of the straw left by the previous crop, it also helps to break the disease cycle in the crop. Another significant benefit is the increase in productivity per area, explored with more than one crop per year without the need to open new planting areas.

Direct sowing

Direct sowing is an old and consolidated technique, widely used in Bom Futuro. Its main characteristic is the lack of soil disturbance, which prevents the destruction of the surface layer and the exposure of the soil to laminar erosion, maintaining organic matter and promoting nutrient cycling, in addition to preventing compaction. From an environmental point of view, direct planting brings significant benefits to soil health and aeration, as well as to the maintenance of local biodiversity, which contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions and other Greenhouse Gases.

Vegetation cover

We ensure that our soils always remain covered and protected, whether through mulch or cover crops such as brachiaria, millet and stylosanthes. This technique is essential to improve water efficiency, protecting soils against erosion and sealing the surface layer. Furthermore, it helps maintain the internal temperature of the soil, reducing the evaporation of stored water, and minimizing surface runoff. This, in turn, increases the permeability and infiltration capacity of water in the soil and provides for the preservation of microorganisms and their biological activities essential for soil health and fertility.

Crop-livestock integration

We operate the world's largest crop-livestock integration (CLI) project, covering over 50,000 hectares dedicated to soybean crops, corn intercropped with *Brachiaria* grass, and pasture. This integration maximizes land-use efficiency by supporting two or three simultaneous activities.

In total, the herd comprises over 160,000 head of cattle—including Nelore and industrial crossbreeds—raised under semi-confinement and feedlot systems across 63,600 hectares. Rearing takes place during the winter on CLI areas, while finishing occurs in feedlots or through intensive pasture finishing (TIP).

Animal management and welfare

Animal welfare is a state of physical, mental and physiological comfort that allows animals to carry out their species-specific activities, free from stress. The better they are treated and the more constant and balanced the external factors to which they are exposed, the less interference there will be in production, and performance will be better. At Bom Futuro, our care involves having adequate and high-level facilities, providing quality nutrition, shade, clean water, as well as promoting good interaction between animals and humans.

Use of bioinputs

In recent years, science has significantly increased research, development and innovation studies on this topic, providing producers with greater agronomic safety and efficiency. Some of the main benefits of adherence and use are; promotion of sustainability, low environmental impact, lower risk of human and animal contamination due to the reduction in the use and quantity of chemical inputs. In addition to contributing to the longevity of the active ingredient's efficiency, biological control of pests and diseases and balancing the quantity and biological activity of soil microbiota. Consequently, the use of bioinputs provides a balance in agricultural production and the longevity of areas.

Precision agriculture

Precision agriculture is an essential practice, in which we use modern tools and technologies to facilitate decision-making, increase the productivity of agricultural areas, optimize land use and reduce costs with inputs and waste. Among the practices adopted are monitoring crops using drones, applying inputs and seeds at variable rates to avoid waste, phytosanitary monitoring using digital platforms to keep detailed records of infestations in each area, and agricultural telemetry that uses sensors embedded in machines to optimize yield, use of inputs, fuels and hours worked.

Sustainable technologies

For us, it is extremely important to invest in sustainable technologies that minimize risks not only to the health of our employees, but also to the environment. We always seek to modernize and equip our aircraft, machinery and heavy vehicles with filters and emission reduction systems, contributing to the well-being of those who operate the activities and to the reduction of air pollution, mitigating environmental impacts.

Decarbonization of the production chain

We are the first company to deliver Brazilian soy with a measured, tracked and deforestation-free carbon footprint (DCF – Deforestation and Conversion FREE Soy). Integrating Bayer's PRO Carbon Commodities program initiative, a global program that seeks to demonstrate how agribusiness can be part of the solution to tackling climate change and preserving biodiversity.

The measurement presents the carbon footprint throughout the agricultural cycle, from pre-planting to harvest, and continues through the transportation phase until grain delivery, with transparency and traceability of information.

Separô

For over 14 years, the Separô Program has been an essential pillar in our company's commitment to the responsible management of hazardous and recyclable waste in all of our production units. During this time, we have prioritized the proper handling of waste, ranging from reuse to final disposal, thus promoting an efficient circular economy.

In addition to ensuring effective waste management practices, the Program has been fundamental in promoting environmental awareness among our employees. Through internal environmental education initiatives, all employees and their families understand the Program's processes and have adapted to this culture.

Furthermore, through strategic partnerships with specialized companies, we transform recyclable materials into resources that are reinvested in socio-environmental projects for both our internal audience and the local community.

Separô is not just a waste management program, but concrete evidence of our commitment to sustainability.

Environmental preservation and recovery

Every year, we implement preservation initiatives in Legal Reserve Areas (ARL), Permanent Protection Areas (APP) and buffer zones of Indigenous Lands. We maintain the preservation of more than 288 thousand hectares, using advanced technology, such as monitoring by satellite images and software. This software evaluates a variety of socio-environmental parameters, including fire outbreaks, deforestation, burning, embargoes and situations of labor analogous to slavery, among others.

In addition, we promote internal campaigns to raise awareness about the importance of preservation and carry out environmental education activities. In parallel, we maintain a nursery in the city of Cuiabá, with the capacity to produce up to 100,000 seedlings of native and fruit species. These seedlings are essential for providing resources for the recovery of degraded areas and the restoration of biodiversity.

Effluent management

We are committed to environmental protection at all stages of our operations, especially in effluent treatment. In strict compliance with the standards established by the National Environmental Council (Conama), our processes ensure that effluents are treated appropriately before being released into the environment.

Additionally, we conduct regular monitoring of water and soil quality at our facilities. This monitoring not only comply with legal requirements, but also allow us to identify any environmental problems early and implement corrective measures if necessary. Thus, we maintain our commitment to environmental sustainability and the preservation of natural resources, ensuring that our activities contribute positively to the environment and the communities where we operate.

Monitoring of water resources

We recognize the importance of water for agriculture and energy generation, assuming the responsibility of managing it sustainably in all our operations. We are committed to preserving this important resource through a series of initiatives in our activities.

As part of our commitment to water conservation, we include the protection and preservation of the sources of watercourses in our areas of operation. We adopt responsible practices in the use of chemical pesticides and implement efficient systems for treating effluents from agricultural activities, ensuring that our impact on the environment is minimized.

In addition, we integrate good agricultural practices, such as contour planting, terracing and direct planting, which help reduce soil erosion and maintain water quality. GEE GHG emissions inventory

We achieved certification with the Silver Seal from the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program, in recognition of our commitments to promoting sustainable, low-carbon agriculture. This seal is awarded to organizations that carry out complete inventories of Greenhouse Gases (GHG), and is a testament to our ongoing efforts to measure, report and reduce such emissions. In this way, we are actively contributing to mitigating the impacts of climate change.

Our company is also dedicated to the conservation of reservoirs and their surroundings, recognizing the importance of these ecosystems for regional water balance and local biodiversity.
